Everything you need to know before the market opens

So much for a relaxing market farewell to 2015.
Last week was all over the place, with the S&P 500 making up-or-down moves of more than 1% on four days, while the Dow had three days like that — capped by that nasty exclamation point on Friday.
For the year, the Dow has now turned in 70 sessions with swings to that degree, and that’s almost double the count for last year. It’s also the most since 2011, when there were 89 such days, according to the Wall Street Journal’s market data group.
In fact, three sessions this year sent the blue-chip gauge up or down 3%, and that’s something we haven’t seen at all in the past four years. One would think we’d be in store for a quieter holiday-shortened week, but the way things have been going in 2015, a loud finish isn’t out of the question.
