The Inspector General of the US Department of Veterans Affairs released a report on their crisis hotline and found that as many as 1 in 6 calls made by veterans in their time of need went to voicemail. Worse, many of the backup centers who received these calls didn’t even know they had a voicemail system, meaning those calls were never heard. The Resident discusses.
