With a new administration in Washington, DC, is there any chance that the U.S. will take a more active role in supporting Filipino interests against the aggressive moves of China? Specifically, will the claims of Beijing to the Scarborough Shoal, located well with the 200-mile territorial limits (aka exclusive economic zone) of the Philippines, be more vigorously defended by Washington?
