SEATTLE, Washington -February 5th, 2012

Luma Institute teaches Human Centered Design methods that companies can use to drive innovation. They have partnered with Customer Experience Labs, a User Research Firm, for an upcoming workshop in Seattle, Washington on April 11th-12th, 2012.

This is a 2- day public workshop. participants run the range from CEO of large organizations to non profits to startups. their roles include product manager, researchers…essentially anyone who wants to broaden their existing toolkit. 

According to Jay Eskenazi, Ph.D., co-founder of Customer Experience Labs, and workshop co-facilitator, the workshop is "appropriate for anyone interested in driving innovation within their company."

The workshop provides participants with skills they can immediately take back to their company and apply and it consists primarily of small group exercises that take the group through a variety of hands-on exercises that simulate real-world business problems.

There are three fundamental skills ets that are covered in this workshop.

First is looking – that's about looking and listening and engaging all the senses. and being disciplined about understanding how to tune into the people that use the products.

Second is the notion of understanding. methods to help better understand the audience being observed. and also how to process the volume of data from research – helps to prices the data.

Third, making. not just making things but also methods to enlist to create new ideas and rapidly prototype new ideas.

According to Pete Maher, COO of Luma and workshop lead, the workshop helps to build the literacy around the three skill sets. Mr. Maher indicated that "thousands of people have participated in the workshop ranging from government officials, small companies to large and past participants have included many Fortune 500 companies, public government agencies, non-profits, and many others."
