This is a story that continues the debate on religion in school. An elementary school in this case. Why it happened im not sure because it seems everyone objected to it.

American songwriter Lee Greenwood says perhaps a Bellingham elementary school should've checked with parents first before removing the word "God" from his popular song "God Bless The USA." While preparing Stall Brook Elementary students for an assembly celebrating their knowledge of the 50 states, the word "God" was dropped from Greenwood's song and the lyrics changed from "God Bless the USA" to "We Love the USA." Parents strongly objected. Superintendent of Schools Edward Fluery says he's sorry if the change was considered disrespectful.
