GoingOn Networks today announced that it has partnered with Central Washington University for the next session in its Academic TechnologyTrends Webinar Series. The 45-minute webinar is on Wednesday, September 26 at 2pm ET / 11am PT and will explore how an academic social network can be used to simplify communication and drive campus-wide engagement and informal learning. Registrations are currently being accepted online at http://www.goingon.com/september-webinar-event. GoingOn launched the series last month in an effort to facilitate best practice sharing among higher education institutions around technology trends. GoingOn partners with colleges and universities implementing industry leading solutions to showcase their experiences and offer actionable insights to help others interested in deploying innovative technologies.

During the session, Dr. Tracy Pellett, Associate Provost at Central Washington University, will discuss his directive and path to deploying an institution-wide Academic Social Network. By explaining the drivers and goals behind CWU’s adoption of social tools, Dr. Pellett will provide insights into the emerging best practices for planning and implementing a network to connect faculty, students and administration. Dr. Pellett will also elaborate on how Central Washington’s “Wildcat Network” supports CWU’s mission to significantly impact student learning, engagement and success. Jon Corshen, CEO of GoingOn Networks, will moderate the webinar.

“Social platforms like Facebook and Twitter have changed the way the world connects and this trend has influenced the ways in which social technologies are becoming a part of the modern academic lifeexperience,” said Corshen. “Central Washington University offers an excellent case study on how these modern modalities can streamline communication and create a collaborative environment that helps increase engagement around academic, co-curricular and extracurricular activities.”

The webinar will explore the benefits and challenges of bringing social technologies to colleges and universities and as a result of attending, participants will

  • Learn about the emerging role of the Academic Social Network and hear how this new solution drives engagement and creates a modern connected campus
  • Understand why an Academic Social Network succeeds where Portals and Listservs have failed
  • Learn how to apply the success of Facebook and Twitter to support conversation and information sharing
  • Understand how to get buy-in for deploying an Academic Social Network on your campus
  • Professionals from the office of CIO, academic affairs and continuing education, provosts, chancellors, deans of faculty and others interested in attending should register today.
