A Deadly Eating Amoeba……
Naegleria Flowler known as the “brain eating amoeba” is a single cell organism. This brain eating amoeba has proven to be extremely fatal.
Yet it is extremely rare.
Seventy five present of Naegleria fowleri is found in fresh warm water. Such as lakes and rivers. These infections primarily occur in southern states, even Mexico.
So far it has been found that an individual can only be infected with the amoeba infection through means of swimming.
It enters the nose then consumes the olfactory bulbs. The amoeba swims next to the nerve fibers to the bottom of the cranium.
Once it is in the brain, the organism starts destroying its cells. This infection creates PMA , (Primary Amebic Menninger phlebitis).
The 1st case of Naegleria Fowler occurred in 1965. Since 1965, there are 5 survivors of Naegleria Fowlier. Two in 1978 from California, one in 2003 from Mexico, and somewhat recently, 2013, two children also in the United states.
Dr. Jenifer Cope, at the Center of Drug Control, (CDC) reported; “they naturally feed on bacteria. But when the so called single cell microbes find themselves in the brain, where there is no bacteria to feast on; they turn to consuming the brain tissue. Even though, it’s not the human brain is not the microbes preferred food”.
There are two stages of symptoms:
B. Nausea
C. vomiting
B. Seizures
C. Altered mental status
D. Hallucinations
E. Coma
None the less with early diagnosis, and treatment, there is an extremely poor chance for survival.
Listed below are the medicatins to treat Naegleria fowleri.
Fluconazole, Maconazole,Rifampicin, and azithromycin
