(Before It's News)

Secretary of State Beth Chapman wants to remind voters about the closing dates for registering to vote for the upcoming municipal and special elections.

For the upcoming municipal elections that will be held on August 28, 2012, the deadline for voter registration is Friday, August 17, 2012.

For the special statewide election on September 18, 2012, the deadline for voter registration is Friday, September 7, 2012.

“I urge every eligible Alabama citizen to register to vote in these important upcoming elections,” said Chapman.   “If someone is unsure whether they are registered to vote, or do not know their polling place, they can find out by either going to the Secretary of State’s website at AlabamaVotes.gov or by contacting their county board of registrars.”

Alabama citizens can also complete voter registration forms at all state and/or county offices that provide public assistance such as Rehabilitation Services, Medicaid, WIC, SNAP, and TANF offices, and at drivers’ license offices and many public libraries.
