Indianapolis (September 25, 2012) – The Mourdock campaign underscored again Joe Donnelly’s effort to cover-up his own liberal record of supporting budget busting policies and recently found “support” for tax cuts extensions.
“Joe Donnelly says he supports balanced budgets in Congress, yet he refused on multiply occasions to support any budget – whether offered by Democrats or Republicans – voted for higher spending, the $2.6 trillion ObamaCare bill, $787 billion failed stimulus plan and the $700 billion bailout of Wall Street, and asked taxpayers to pay for it all by voting repeatedly to raise the debt ceiling by trillions of dollars,” stated Mourdock spokesman Christopher Conner. “Throw in Donnelly’s election year conversion in support of extending the Bush tax cuts, and Hoosiers get a true picture of who the Congressman really is: a Washington politician stuck in the liberal left lane.” (4)

(4) Donnelly wants to extent tax cuts by only one year not permanently http://thestatehousefile.com/donnelly-said-hell-support-extension-of-all-bush-era-tax-cuts/6110/
In 2004-2006 Donnelly said he didn’t support tax cuts for the top 1% to help balance the budget:
In 2006, Donnelly Said He Favored Making Permanent All The Tax Cuts Except Those For The Top 1%, Which Could Also Be Made Permanent As Long As The Budget Is Balanced. Donnelly: “I support making all the tax cuts permanent immediately, except for the top 1 percent of wage earners. For the top 1 percent, I support those tax cuts as well, as long as the budget is balanced. Until that time, we can’t afford to lose that revenue stream.” (James Wensits, “Chocola, Donnelly Weigh In,” South Bend Tribune, 9/25/06)
Donnelly Said The 2003 Bush Tax Cuts Have Been Good For The Economy But Said The Top 1% Tax Cut Should Be Repealed To Help Balance The Budget. “Q: What about the tax cuts that were been approved in 2003. Have those been good for the economy as some folks have been saying for increased revenues to the federal government? Or have they been bad for the economy and should they not be extended? Donnelly: We have to look at the economy in a overall circle and they have been good for the economy. But that top 1% tax cut, I have been very honest about this, they have been good to help create additional tax revenues at times. But what’s happened is that top 1%, if we have the revenue in as well, with that revenue we would be able to lower the budget down.” (Indiana Congressional Interview, www.c-spanvideo.org, 10/8/06) (27:50)
“[Donnelly] Said Those In The Top 1 Percent Can Contribute ‘Billions And Billions’ That Can Be Used To Keep The National Debt From Growing.” (James Wensits, “Chocola, Donnelly Set For Fall Face-Off,” South Bend Tribune, 5/5/04)
Donnelly: “It’s Such A Huge Chunk Of Money, It Can Bring The Deficit Down All By Itself.” (James Wensits, “Chocola, Donnelly Set For Fall Face-Off,” South Bend Tribune, 5/5/04)
In 2004, Donnelly Said The Republican Tax Cuts Expanded The Budget Deficit. “Donnelly was critical of the federal tax cuts that Chocola has supported. ‘I think what the tax cuts have done is expand the budget deficit,’ Donnelly said.” (James Wensits, “Donnelly Criticizes Chocola On Bill To Control Spending,” South Bend Tribune, 2/14/04)
