Requests to participate in Inauguration Day events for marching bands, equestrians, military groups and floats are collected by the Joint Task Force-National Capital Region. The Presidential Inaugural Committee, formed after the November election, selects the participants from these requests.

The first Inaugural Ball was held the evening after the swearing-in ceremony. It took place at Long’s Hotel and tickets cost $4 each.
