On Friday, the Richard Mourdock U.S. Senate campaign released its latest internal polling revealing Indiana Treasurer Richard Mourdock holds the lead heading into the final days of the campaign.
The poll, conducted from 10/31 – 11/1 by McLaughlin and Associates, shows Richard Mourdock at 46% and Democrat opponent Joe Donnelly at 44%.
“The Democrats have nothing else to point to but smears and distortions, because they certainly can't tout their own record,” stated Mourdock campaign spokesman Christopher Conner. “The fact remains that Richard Mourdock is the only candidate in this race with experience managing a statewide budget, whereas Congressman Donnelly voted for failed bailouts at the taxpayers' expense, on top of raising taxes twenty-eight times. Joe Donnelly can't run on his record, so he's throwing any distraction into this race to avoid being held to account for his role in our nation's economic woes.”
“Richard Mourdock remains committed to talking about serious issues that matter to Hoosier families: repealing ObamaCare, lowering taxes, decreasing government waste and keeping Harry Reid from controlling a Senate that hasn’t passed a budget in three-and-a-half years.”
The political environment in Indiana remains very favorable to the Republicans, with Mitt Romney leading President Obama 54% to 41%.
