Rep. Michele Bachmann (R-Minn.) raised $4.5 million during the third quarter of the year, her campaign announced Friday.
Bachmann ended the July-Sept. period with $3.5 million in the bank, an uptick from the $1.7 million she had on hand at the close of the second quarter.
Bachmann, who pursued the Republican nomination for president before ending her bid in January after a disappointing sixth-place showing in the Iowa caucuses, isn’t considered to be very vulnerable in her race against Democrat Jim Graves, but the race is no gimme, either. The redistricting process helped shore up Minnesota’s 6th District for her by making it more Republican. For her part, Bachmann has been dispensing withurgent fundraising pleas.
Bachmann’s haul makes her the most productive House fundraising candidate of the quarter, so far. Her total is a bit more than Rep. Allen West’s (R-Fla.) $4 million haul, and is likely to top even some Senate contenders. But it’s not a personal record – Bachmann brought in about $5 million during a three-month period in 2010.
