(Before It's News)

The political party conference season in the United Kingdom kicks off today with the Welsh party, Plaid Cymru holding its event in Brecon. We do not have to wait for the conference to begin to know what will be said; such is the way of modern news that there are three bites of the cherry: a preview of the news, the news itself and an aftermath restatement of the news.

We know that Plaid will favour more renewable energy and wean Wales off its oil dependency. Environmentalists have heard it all before. We should not trust in princes, however exalted they be, because when a party is far from power it can be idealistic and it can promulgate all kinds of policies which will save the environment from destruction and extend the short leasehold tenure that humanity holds on this planet.

But when the reality of power comes upon any group, the group is extended and increased by those who seek power for the sake of it. Such princes use the paving of good intentions, so that the descent occurs, as people are led down along the road to a place from which they cannot return.
