Washington State Voters Strongly Support Marijuana Legalization Ballot Measure

Three states will be voting in this November’s election to legalize marijuana, but Initiative 502 in Washington continues to generate the most sustained public support. With only a few weeks until election, I-502 still holds a large lead with registered voters, and the proposed cannabis reform is firmly on track to win. According to the most recent King 5 poll, 55% of likely voters are planning to vote in favor of legalizing marijuana; the survey also found that only 36% of voters remain against the proposed pot initiative.
In addition to generating a tremendous amount of much-needed revenue for the region and reducing our expanding prison populations, this sensible pot reform would legalize possession of up to an ounce of marijuana for adults, and would also create a regulatory system for its sale. Many countries have already successfully decriminalized marijuana and other drugs for personal use, with positive results.
Since Washington appears likely to become one of the first states to legalize, tax and regulate weed, is it possible that these vital changes will finally instigate the federal decriminalization of marijuana? Please don’t forget to vote, and let your voice be heard.
