Central Veterinary Associates Accepting Donations to Help Local Pet Owners
Affected by Hurricane Sandy
VALLEY STREAM, NY – In an effort to provide relief to pet owners living on
the south shore of Nassau County who were affected by Hurricane Sandy,
Central Veterinary Associates has announced that it will be accepting donations at its emergency pet hospital, located at 73 West Merrick Road in Valley Stream.
Central Veterinary Associates is accepting pet food, pet bedding and
blankets, extension cords, flashlights, bottled water, batteries and other
necessities.
“We urge anyone who can help pet owners who are without power or who have
been displaced because of Hurricane Sandy to give whatever they can at our
Valley Stream location,” said Dr. John Charos, Chief Operating Officer, Central Veterinary Associates and Lead Coordinator, New York City Veterinary Emergency Response Team and Animal Planning Task Force.
“When we face natural disasters such as this, we sometimes forget that our pets can be affected. They also need food and shelter the same way humans do. If your pet becomes ill, please also remember that our Valley Stream hospital is available 24/7.”
CVA keeps its hospital in Valley Stream open 24 hours a day, seven days a week, 365 days a year, including all major
holidays and for emergency situations and natural disasters. Thanks to
backup generators, it has remained open throughout the storm and its
aftermath.
