FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE CONTACT: John Zaher/Hank Russell PRMG New York (631) 207-1057 November 8, 2012 Nassau Suggestion Box Launches Nassau Ride Share Website to Help Local Residents Carpool and Access Public Transportation in Face of Long Gas Lines With Nassau County residents still devastated by the effects of Hurricane Sandy and dealing with long lines at gas stations, Adam Haber, member of the Roslyn School Board and founder of Nassau Suggestion Box, has launched Nassau Ride Share, in which people can either look for someone to carpool with or offer someone a ride to the same place they are going. On Nassau Ride Share, visitors can find riders or drivers going a similar route as other members of the carpool. People would have to create an account and password in order to enter the online forum; from there, they can post whether they are a rider or a driver, the carpool’s destination and point of return and what days of the week the carpool would be for. There is also a list of resources for information on public transportation. “Nassau Ride Share is a perfect solution for those who need a ride to work or school because they do not have their own means of transportation or the local public buses do not extend far enough towards their destination,” Mr. Haber said. “With long lines at the gas stations because of Hurricane Sandy, Nassau Ride Share alleviates the frustration involved in waiting to get gas and also reduces traffic congestion. It is good to see neighbors helping each other out at times like this and Nassau Ride Share encourages Nassau County residents to help those who need to get to where they are going.” The website was designed and is being maintained by The Public Relations and Marketing Group, LLC. That is why he created Nassau Suggestion Box, a nonpartisan forum whose goal is to create a better, more efficient government for Nassau County. Citizens can visit the site and educate themselves about the issues facing Nassau County; submit ideas on how to improve county government; vote and comment on the ideas they like or dislike; learn about the candidates running for office and how they can contact their local elected officials; and participate in weekly straw polls on current issues. The goal of Suggestion Box is to develop a public forum where citizens can learn about important policy issues and let their ideas and views be known.
