(Before It's News)

Sailing is a very green activity, because it uses wind power.  Most sailboats, other than very small ones, use diesel or gasoline power when there is not wind, when entering or leaving a dock. or when the wind is in the wrong direction.  Powerboats can use very large amounts of fuel which is makes trips expensive and is not green.

The St. Petersburg Boat Show and Strictly Sail is a good place to discover sailboats. There were be a large display in the water and on land.  Most of the sailboats will be in a separate section from the power boats. At boat shows, other vendors have items relating to green energy including solar panels and wind turbines, which are sometimes used to provide power to boats.

The boat show takes places in St. Petersburg, Florida,  from December 4 to December 7, 2012.  Details can be found at http://www.showmanagement.com/st_petersburg_boat_show_and_strictly_sail_2008/event/.
