For the second time in three years, the streets of San Francisco erupted in a seemingly endless orange and black sea of enthusiastic baseball fans celebrating their team’s impressive World Series win. Clouds of marijuana smoke drifted through the air as massive crowds dressed in fake beards and as pandas clogged the city’s arteries to partake in the parade honoring the champion SF Giants.
One of the most resonant part of the day’s festivities happened just after Giants player Sergio Romo gave a brief victory speech at City Hall, and then unzipped his hoodie to reveal a shirt which read: I Just Look Illegal. The bearded pitcher played at Arizona Western College, the University of North Alabama and Colorado Mesa University, before he was drafted by the Giants seven years ago. Romo was born in California, and is of Mexican heritage.
