  • Flooding in Baghdad, Iraq
    -Four killed in worst flooding in 30 years in Baghdad.
    -Several hospitals in the city including Fatima al-Zahra hospital in Sadr City was also flooded.
    -Government has declared national holiday today.
    -Following  Iraqi Meteorological Organization, about 6.75 centimeters (2.56 inches) of rain fell in Baghdad on Wednesday.

    -Floods triggered by torrential rains in Malaysia killed two people.
    -More than 20,000 people are currently living in evacuation centers.
    -Recent flood in Malaysia is expected to be worst since 1971!
    -Floods have affected Terengganu, Kelantan and Pahang area of Malaysia.

Recent Volcanic Activity
Erupting Volcanoes: Fuego, Santiago, Poas, Reventador, Nyiragongo, Ol Doniyo Lengai, Raung, Erta Ale, Paluweh, Gamalama, Batu Tara, Sakurajima, Manam, Ulawun, Tolbachik and Kilauea volcano.

  • Nicaragua/San Cristóbal recent volcanic activity
    -Around 300 families in the province of Chinandega evacuated due to recent volcanic activity in San Cristóbal volcano.
    -Nicaragua’s government officials has issued a yellow (preventive) alert for five sq km around the San Cristóbal volcano.
    -Ash columns from San Cristóbal volcano reached up to 500 meters high and affected Tonala, Morazán, Puerto Corinto and Chichigalpa town.
    -The Nicaraguan army has sent rescue teams to the area.
    -Volcán San Cristóbal is the highest volcano in Nicaragua.

Recent Tropical Cyclones

  • Tropical Storm Wukong
    -As of 12:00 UTC, TS Wukong (Quinta) was located 285 nm south-southwest of Manila, Philippines.
    -Nine killed and four others are reported to be missing. The death toll from Wukong (Quinta) included 3 in Eastern Samar, 2 in Iloilo, 2 in Capiz and 1 each in Aklan and Catanduanes.
    -Quinta hit Leyte on Christmas Day with peak winds of 65 kilometers per hour and a rainfall span of 350 km from the center. In Cebu, the town of San Francisco on Camotes Island was the hardest hit by Quinta.
