(Before It's News)

Jan 12, 2013 – New York City [NYC] found some surprises resulting from their new law tracking energy usage of large buildings. Some of the older buildings had better results than the  more efficient new glass towers.  7 World Trade Center, a new building with a gold LEED had a 74 score, just below the 75 required by the US EPA Energy  Star Program.  The Chrysler Building had an  84 and the Empire State Building had an 80.  The MetLife Building over Grand Central Terminal: 39.  The famous Mies van der  Rohe Seagram Building on Park Avenue: 3!!

The Seagram  Building is installing a number of conservation items.  But, it still has beautiful single-pane glass.

Please leave comments here about other buildings in NYC or your city.
