Do we have enough? We all seem to desire so many material things; we want so much without suffering from want. Our desires do us much harm; the accumulation of possessions harm us and harm our environment. One way of getting enough is to accumulate more and more.
Perhaps it is simply a result of the fittest and most adaptable surviving best. There is no doubt that in a biological sense homo sapiens is the fittest. That is our wisdom. We can as a species destroy virtually every other species in the world. What matter then, if we hunt whales to extinction or tigers to museum pieces? At least we will have enough, because we will have more and more.
Logically then in the not so distant future there will be no wild animals, except in zoos and parks, and the only other animals which we will permit to exist are domesticated animals. That is the logical conclusion of evolution. The fittest will survive and the rest will simply be ornaments or food for the fittest. that will be more than enough.
But there is another way to have enough; that way is to simply to desire less. Perhaps we can evolve so that homo sapiens desires less. Time will tell.
