One of the greenest activities is sailing. You use the power of the wind to travel and sometimes solar or wind power for part of the electricity to power the lights and electronics on your sailboat. We have been watching the show “Distant Shores” on Wealth TV, a cable channel. It is also available with some Internet streaming devices.
The series involves a couple sailing on their boat, Distant Shores II. In earlier episodes their boat was Distant Shores. Not only do you see them sailing and living on their boat. In addition details about sailing and maintenance, times is covered exploring sites on land including food in restaurants and markets, tourist sites, unusual and unknown places, and green sites. For example, the solar and wind turbine features of Aero Island in Denmark are shown and discussed. Areo Island will be the subject of a separate post. The couple travels throughout Europe, the Middle East, the Caribbean, North America and Central America.
When watching the show, it feels as though you are travelling, time is spent exploring on shore as well as by water.
Distant shores has their own website, distantshores.ca, where you can find our more about the program and purchase DVDs.
