(Before It's News)

Apr 8, 2013 -  Two nuclear reactors at San Onofre Nuclear Generating Station in California have been idle for over a year after premature wear and leakage of steam generator tubes that had just been repaired with a cost of $670 million.  Wow!  And I was complaining about the cost of my car’s 30,000 mile maintenance.  Don’t you get at least a 10 year warranty like a Hyundai when you spend $670  million?  It is still not known when the US Nuclear Regulatory Commission [NRC] will allow these 2 reactors to start  up. These 2 reactors were providing about 20% of the power to the neighboring Southern California area.  By the way, there is a third reactor at the site that has been out of commission since 1992 and is being decommissioned.
