Apr 8, 2013 – We’ve all seen pictures of animals turning ancient energy systems as they walk in a continuous circle to run a water pump, etc. Now comes a 21st century system from London-based Pavegen Systems that produces small amount of electrical energy from the kinetic energy of individuals walking or running and stepping on the special floor tiles. The electric energy is stored in a battery. The system is still too expensive for routine applications, but is being installed in a number of demonstration locations where there is a lot of foot traffic.
