Apr 3, 2013 – US installed 3.3 gigawatts of photovoltaic capacity in 2012, 76% greater than in 2011.Approximately 1.8 gw was utility-scale installations. Installations were aided by the fact that costs for solar panels was 27% lower. 2013 is expected to be another record year for solar installations with up to 4.3 gw. Japan is expected to install even more, a record 5 gw in 2013. They want to move away from nuclear as quickly as possible after the disaster they had from the tsunami.
