(Before It's News)

Quting Henry Miller at Forbes

Bittman’s whinging about the supposed lack of signal successes of genetic engineering applied to agriculture is disingenuous. He and other cynical, anti-social activists who have opposed and obstructed agbiotech relentlessly for years now have the gall to complain about the hype and over-selling of its benefits — rather like the teenager convicted of murdering his parents who pleads for mercy from the judge because he’s an orphan.
Psychiatrist Glenn Swogger recently made some relevant observations about the sort of rant in which Bittman specializes: “Rather than promoting dialogue or debate, the rant serves the emotional needs of the ranter: getting something off his chest, telling “them” where to get off, perhaps leaving the ranter a sense of righteousness at attending to the dirty business of setting someone straight. There is also a narcissistic delight in verbal dexterity, in dealing out the trenchant phrase. The rant is really for the self, and for fellow believers.”
