1888 Press Release – Nathan Jurczyk of Merchant Services and fellow employees work to keep our beaches beautiful and urge others to join in by volunteering for the Annual California Coastal Cleanup Day.

Orange County, CA – Nathan Jurczyk, Vice-President of Merchant Services of Irvine, along with Merchant Services, Inc. is urging others to support the California Coastal Commission’s Public Education Program by participating in one of the many coastal protection and restoration activities.

Every year, over 14 billion pounds of waste are dumped into the earth’s oceans. California Coastal Cleanup Day, an annual event held by the California Coastal Commission, is the state’s largest volunteer event and kicks off CoastWeeks, an annual three-week celebration of coastal and water resources that takes place throughout the country. Merchant Services of Irvine, as part of their longstanding commitment to supporting the local community, volunteered to do their part in protecting our coast and waters by participating in the 2012 California Coastal Cleanup Day.

“It has been truly inspiring to see the level of enthusiasm and involvement our team members have shown while taking part in these volunteer opportunities,” shared Vice President of Merchant Services Nathan Jurczyk. “We have seen an overwhelming desire from our team to help those in our community.”

Employees of Merchant Services of Irvine took time out of their weekends to volunteer for California Coastal Cleanup Day, traveling to Huntington State Beach to scavenge for trash left in the sand and soiling the beaches. “It is amazing to see what can be accomplished when people work together, shared Eric Madura,” Client Services Manager at Merchant Services. By noon, the volunteers had cleaned roughly 500 feet of the coast, removing bottle caps, wrappers, twist ties, straws, plastic utensils, and cigarette butts.

“Coastal Cleanup Day is one of the many ways in which individuals can get involved in helping to protect our coast and ocean,” noted Nathan Jurczyk. The California Coastal Commission’s Public Education Program is dedicated to increasing public knowledge of coastal and marine resources and to engaging the public in coastal protection and restoration activities.

Merchant Services, Inc. has committed itself to serving the community. The Merchant Services team partners with multiple local, national, and international organizations to meet its vision of continuously acting in a socially responsible manner through investing in donations to community strengthening organizations.
