Tired of cutting out coupons from the newspaper or printing from websites to save money at the supermarket? Tired of seeing paper going to waste in the name of saving money? One game-changing smart phone app could offer an answer.

Mobeam Technology* announced earlier this week that the state-of-the-art Samsung Galaxy S5 smartphone is the newest device installed with its scanning capabilities.

Here, Galaxy S5 users can swipe their smartphones over store scanners at supermarkets, drug stores, and shopping malls in order to cash in on coupons, member discounts, etc.

Consumers will be able to use the Beep’nGo app through Galaxy Gifts. Customers can save greater than $350 a month from major retailers including: Staples, BJ’s Wholesale Club, and Macy’s, to name a few.

Thanks to Beep’nGo, Galaxy S5 smartphone owners will not need to waste hours on end looking in the newspaper, cutting out magazines, or using plastic cards in getting the best savings. Scan the mobile phone, and save instantly.

“The Galaxy S5 literally pays for itself with the offers from the biggest brands available in Mobeam’s Beep’nGo. This is yet another example of how Samsung has set this revolutionary mobile device apart from the competition,” said Kang M. Lee, President and CEO of Mobeam.

“With Mobeam’s technology on your phone, you never forget your loyalty cards at home, or have to deal with wallets and purses overstuffed with membership cards or coupons,” he said.

It’s anticipated that 100 mobile devices across 180 countries will have Mobeam’s technology by the end of this year.

What is the potential of such technology on mobile commerce and the environment?

With Forrester projecting mobile commerce at $31 billion by 2017, a product like Mobeam will bring you one step closer to using your phone for everything, as CNBC’s Jim Cramer noted last year.

Meanwhile, on the environmental side, it’s about the 13.62 million trees that were cut or the 113.5 billion sheets of paper that were used for paper coupons, according to Savingstar.com. What is even more astonishing is that 99% of paper coupons never get used by consumers, creating unnecessary waste. Using your smartphone over a store scanner, companies would be killing two birds with one stone (or saving them with one swipe?): reducing the amount of trees cut down while also cutting down on inefficiencies and inconveniences.

With the world marching on towards a paperless society, mobile smartphones will play a key role in moving towards a sustainable future as business looks for ways to increase efficient marketing schemes for consumers. Mobeam could very well be one company that leads this revolution.
