Many of us living in developed countries do not realize just how toxic our obsessive relationship to our fancy gadgets can be. People in the US throw away over 60 pounds of electronic waste each year, and all of those expensive gadgets that end up in a dump add lots of toxic pollution to our air, water and soil.
Recycling, donating and reusing these devices can potentially make a huge difference, as can thinking twice before purchasing some new fangled object that you probably do not even really need. The importance of regularly unplugging from our online and electronic devices and actively participating with other humans in the real world can also not be overstated.
Since Earth Day 2013, the e-waste recycler eCycle Best helped keep 34,000 gadgets out of our nation’s municipal landfills.
