According to NWS Boston, Boston Snow Storm 2015 has already occupied the second position in the list. Total snowfall this 2014-2015 winter season was at 105.7 inches Wednesday morning, which is less than 2 inches below the record of 107.6 inches
“This is only the second time since record-keeping began in 1872 that snowfall has surpassed 100 inches. Also notable is that four of its five snowiest seasons have occurred since 1993.

States of emergency declared in advance of the snow storm
Governors in Alabama, Mississippi, West Virginia and New Jersey have declared states of emergency in advance of the storm.
Schools from Texas to West Virginia closed early Wednesday.
In Washington, D.C., the federal government announced that it offices would be closed Thursday due to an expected snowfall of between 4 and 8 inches.
