ALAN HENNING ISIS: Condemnation by UK Muslims for ISIS…but not for Al-Fatiha.
Do we discern the strong odour of hypocrisy here?
The Independent announced this morning that ‘More than 100 Muslim leaders today make an unprecedented joint appeal to the kidnappers of Alan Henning to release the aid worker unharmed or commit the “worst condemnable sin” against Islam.…the statement….pleads with those holding the British hostage to accept that he was on a mission to Syria to help innocent civilians”.
While this is a fine thing for Muslims to have done, I note that they didn’t raise this level of objection to the first three ‘beheadings’. So again, one wonders if they (like many others) privately hold the view that, although the fate allegedly meted out the three others was barbaric, the trio were Islam’s enemies working for the West….which is, let’s face it, what I and myriad other observers have suggested.
At the same time, however, I confess to seeing some potential shuffling about with the truth on the subject of ‘on a mission to Syria to help innocent civilians’. That is far from proven – especially given the dubious track-record of Al-Fatiha about which I posted yesterday. Based on my research to date, it begins to look increasingly like Henning does not himself have any links to extremism: so, as an innocent dupe, it remains highly likely that Henning was set up….and it could have been Al-Fatiha that facilitated that.
This isn’t me playing angels on a pinhead here: there are many advantages to be had for Islam in distancing itself from ISIS, but we need to put that distance into context. The Muslim community is once more here open to accusations of double standards. If they want to condemn ISIS – the evidence suggests – they should also condemn Al-Fatiha.
The Al-Fatiha video released last night makes it hard for the objective commentator not to see hypocrisy in such a statement. We should bear in mind that until yesterday, this “charity” declined to comment upon whether Alan Henning had even been a member of the fatal convoy. Based close to Worcester, the charity’s local newspaper yesterday recorded that ‘We emailed the charity and also visited the registered city address of the charity in a bid for answers about the abduction, dropping off a reporter’s card containing his contact details. However, no-one had returned our calls either to confirm or deny the reports circulating about Mr Henning’s reported links with the charity work of Al-Fatiha’.
Does this smack of open honesty, or premeditated cunning?
Long before The Slog’s research into what this charity is really about, the UK’s Charity Commission expressed grave concerns about its activities. I am on the record going back three years as a vehement supporter of those who say that, if the Gaza peace flotillas were innocent, then Hitler was a pacifist Jew.
We have to wake up and realise here that this is a battle not just for hearts and minds, but – in the Islamic mindset – also for souls. In such a context, the ends always justify the means for those who believe. May God who does not exist save us from Believers….whomsoever their false God might be.
