To inform, educate and entertain – this has been the BBC’s mantra from day one. However with the expiration of its Royal Charter in 2016 there is now a real opportunity for debate about the future of the BBC and most importantly how it is funded.
Therefore as part of this year’s Freedom Zone a panel consisting of Andrew Allison (Campaign Manager, The Freedom Association), Alex Deane CC (Managing Director of Public Affairs, FTI Consulting), a BBC Representative*, and John Whittingdale OBE MP (Chairman, Culture, Media and Sport Committee) will be discussing the topic “The future of the BBC. Should the licence fee be scrapped?”. This exciting session will also be chaired by Iain Dale (Presenter, LBC Radio).
The discussion is free to attend, and as it takes place outside of the Conservative Party Conference secure zone there is no need to have a conference pass.
For more information about this session, you can visit its Facebook page.
