This week’s ‘Parliamentarian of the Week’ is Michael Gove, Conservative MP for Surrey Heath.
The intellectual driving force behind the modern Conservative Party, Mr. Gove is renowned as one of the most principled politicians of our times, and, as Lord Chancellor, is especially well positioned to refute claims about the sovereignty of our legal system.
He has shown bravery to contradict the specious pro-EU case of his close friend, the Prime Minister, who is known not to treat disagreement lightly. Commenting on his dilemma, Mr. Gove rightly stated that “if, at this moment of decision, I didn’t say what I believe I would not be true to my convictions or my country”.
We are delighted that Michael Gove has shown the courage to join the anti-Establishment side in this referendum, and congratulate him on being this week’s ‘Parliamentarian of the Week’.
