This week’s ‘Parliamentarian of the Week’ is the Rt Hon. Priti Patel, Conservative MP for Witham.
We had always hoped that Ms Patel would stick by her long-held EU principles – she worked in the press office of the Referendum Party in the 1990s – to declare for ‘Leave’. She formed part of the ‘Gang of Six‘ Cabinet ministers that marched straight from Downing Street to the offices of Vote Leave on Saturday 20 February.
On Thursday, Ms Patel wrote an excellent article for The Times, in which she declared that, after we vote leave:
We have a chance to take back control. We can stride forwards on our own terms, and create a thriving economy which supports entrepreneurs and innovation. That’s the better brighter future I’d like to see for this country.
We are delighted that the articulate and principled Rt Hon. Priti Patel has elucidated the case so well, and congratulate her on being this week’s ‘Parliamentarian of the Week’.
