I have written before of our village Norton Sub Hamdon, with its Lord Paddy Ashdown. I bumped into his wife Jane today, the first time I had seen her in almost 3 weeks as she and Paddy had been off in France visiting their married 50 year old daughter. Jane is a nice lady but today when she went on about how much damage T May was doing our country. I had to flatly disagree. Jane then went on about how her daughter had no security of tenure in France thanks to T May. I made the point that it was the French government that ran France not Mrs May. Jane became very tetchy talking about villagers etc.
I still think she is a nice lady.
About two months eatrlier with Paddy basking in the glow of their Richmond success I walked up the road behind two Lib Dems who congratulated and talked to Paddy on the Lib Dem success As I passed I asked Paddy when Olney was giving her next radio interview. Her first interview with Julia H-B had been so memorable. Paddy got upset saying he did not talk politics in the village. Strange as he had been doing just that 5 seconds earlier. All a bit tetchy.
In between times I had the Ashdown son in front of Paddy and Jane also getting tetchy accusing be of backing Trump something I had not done, I think he may have got me mixed up with Farage.
Its always a good sign when your political opponents get tetchy. If Paddy wants to be treated like an ordinary villager I suggest he keeps of National TV.
Its not just the Donald who is thin skinned. I feel a bit like the homosexual in Little Britain who says I'm the only gay in the village except I am not a homosexual just an ordinary Brexit supporter who talks to everyone, respects their views and does not get upset.
