Litchfield Park, Arizona – 12th May 2013 – Music is undoubtedly a favourite pastime for many people in the world, regardless of age or gender. Songwriting is one of the ways which allows people to think differently and communicate their feelings or express their views on any given topic. Those who are serious about songwriting also frequently take part in songwriting contests in order to win prizes and help kick-start their careers.
Songwriting contests are held by many organizing companies and “Show Me the Music” is one such company which rewards the winners of the contest with significant cash and other prizes. Recently, they have announced that their 2013 Songwriting Contest is now open for new entries.
One of the biggest motivation for contestants is that the winner will bag record prize money, with the option to choose between $10,000 cash or $5,000 cash and a recording session in Nashville, TN. The 2013 Songwriting Contest offers the “Largest prize package at the lowest entry fee.” In addition to the grand prize, the 2nd place winner receives $500 cash, the 3rd place winner receives $250 cash and the genre winners each receive $100 cash and many more prizes.
Another important feature of the Show Me the Music contest is that they do not run the contestants’ music through an algorithm machine to let a computer determine what’s a great song. Show Me the Music takes pride in having real people to listen to each song entered. Songs are judged on factors such as melody, lyrics, song structure and originality. Also important to note is that entries are not judged on production. The contest first began in 2009 and each year the number of contestants that provide entries has increased significantly.
