New Scarsdale Location Coming Soon Due to Customer Demand

On Thursday, October 17th, Ben’s Kosher Delicatessen Restaurant & Caterers will be holding a groundbreaking event to commemorate the construction of its new Scarsdale location, which is set to open in early 2014.

The decision to open a location in Westchester was due to customer demand for a quality, Kosher delicatessen in the area. The new, standalone restaurant will be among Ben’s largest locations, with a second-story catering space and a full bar. It will be the first Ben’s with a second-story catering venue and the second to have a full bar, after Manhattan.

“We really want our Scarsdale location to have a much broader appeal,” says Scott Singer, President and CSO of Ben’s. “With this Ben’s, we’re looking to evolve the traditional delicatessen of yesteryear into a more modern offering for today’s busy consumers and families who want convenience, but don’t want to sacrifice quality.”

To that end, the 5,700-square-foot space will have a different, more embellished menu than other Ben’s locations — with an extensive list of freshly made daily specials that will appeal to a broader customer base — in addition to the traditional Kosher deli fare that made Ben’s famous. The Scarsdale restaurant will be the seventh incarnation of the renowned 40-year-old establishment, with three locations on Long Island and one each in Manhattan; Queens; and Boca Raton, FL.

The groundbreaking event will be held on Thursday, October 17th at 11:45 a.m. at the site of the new Ben’s, located at 718 Central Avenue in Scarsdale. Local elected officials, representatives from Ben’s, and area customers will be in attendance.

“This new location has special meaning to me, as I grew up there,” said Mr. Singer. “We always had a few Kosher delis in the area, but one by one, they started to disappear. The demand for a Ben’s Restaurant from the Westchester consumers was overwhelming. We’re happy to be able to give the public what they’ve been craving.”
