Alzheimer’s Disease Resource Center, Inc. Presents First Annual “Give From The Heart” Athletes For Alzheimer’s Fundraiser Event

Who:               Mary Ann Malack-Ragona, Executive Director/Chief Executive Officer, Alzheimer’s Disease Resource Center, Inc.

What:               The first annual “Give from the Heart”Atheletes for Alzheimer’s event was created to raise funds for ADRC programs that help those who suffer from Alzheimer’s Disease and their unpaid caregivers. The event is in memory of the late Dorothy C. Camilleri, a Bellmore resident who battled Alzheimer’s Disease for several years. 

 

                         Individuals and teams will participate in a daylong contest to determine who can perform the most sit-ups or push-ups in a given period of time. Molloy College, Kellenberg High School, Nancy Burner & Associates, and Dear Little Dollies have now registered for the event.

 

Volunteer coaches and Steel Fitness trainers will watch all participants to make sure the activities are done correctly and that the count is accurate. Awards will be presented to those who complete the most sit-ups or push-ups and for those who raise the most funds.

 

When:             Sunday, February 16
                        8 a.m. – 6 p.m.  

 

Where:                        Steel Fitness Gym

                        2742 Grand Ave, Bellmore, NY

 

Directions:      Sunrise Highway towards Bellmore Avenue. Take Bellmore Avenue north, then turn left onto Grand Ave. The gym should be on your left.

 

Photo Ops:      Ms. Malack-Ragona talking to individuals about the importance of the programs at ADRC, volunteers participating in the athletic contest, volunteer coaches supporting the contestants, and Steel Fitness Gym trainers and employees participating in the event.

Alzheimer’s Disease Resource Center, Inc. — which is headquartered in Bay Shore and has a satellite office in Southampton — is the only local Alzheimer’s Disease advocacy and educational facility whose mission is to provide hands-on support and services to families on Long Island and the New York metropolitan area. ADRC works with family members, health care professionals and researchers to ensure quality health care and support to those impacted by Alzheimer’s Disease through care and consultation, information and referral, training, support groups, and caregiver safety products.
