(Before It's News)

LAS VEGAS, NV- (April 24, 2014) – Current of Tampa Bay, Inc. is returning to Las Vegas this Saturday, April 26, to host their tenth community Laundry Project over the past five years. With help from local volunteers and Current team members, the Laundry Project provides free laundry services to area residents from 10 a.m. until 1p.m. at A+ Laundromat located at 2448 E. Bonanza Rd.

“We love hosting the Laundry Project in Las Vegas,” said Current President, Jason Sowell. “Clean laundry is a great equalizer with humanity and the services we provide really help relieve the stress of being able to afford to wash customers’ clothes.”

According to Spotlight on Poverty and Opportunity, Nevada’s poverty rate is 16.4 percent with a 7.1 percent extreme poverty rate. Not only does it affect the urban and high-populated communities, but the percentage of suburban residents living in poverty is continually increasing as well.

Project sponsors and volunteers from both The River Christian Church and Grace Point Church are partnering with Current to assist during this weekend’s Project. Local community members can also get involved by donating much needed supplies including detergent, quarters (rolls of $10), one-gallon Ziploc bags, garbage bags, coloring books, crayons, fabric softener and laundry baskets. More information about this and other events can be found online at www.LaundrybyCurrent.org
