Pepsi Co. Inc (NYSE:PEP) has been accused of being tone deaf over an advertisement featuring reality TV star Kendall Jenner.
The two-and-a-half minute advertisement, released yesterday, shows the supermodel marching into a protest and offering a police officer a can of Pepsi as a peace offering.
The Keeping up with the Kardashians star manages to restore harmony as soon as the police officer opens the can.
A hijab-wearing photographer captures the moment and the crowd goes wild.
The ad has received a raft of criticism by social activists for being disrespectful in the wake of protests against sexism, racism, police brutality and President Donald Trump.

So all us dark people have to do is convince a cop that the Pepsi we’re holding isn’t a gun.

Pespi released a statement defending the ad last night, saying: “This is a global ad that reflects people from different walks of life coming together in a spirit of harmony, and we think that’s an important message to convey.”
