Nastasiia Samokhina not only draws using black ink, but also incorporates stitching directly onto her sketchbook pages. Typically, on one side of a spread she will create a simple line-based illustration and on the other, a pattern related to the illustration that takes up the entire page. Despite bouncing between ink and thread as a means to create her linework on almost every page, she usually will not waste the back of the page due to odd patterns created by the excess thread. Instead, she finds a creative way to turn that page into a completely new work of art. Never again will I skip a page in my sketchbook as a result of a little ink bleeding through the backside. I wish I could see Nastasiia's sketchbook in person because the thread gives it a pop of color and texture that I'm tempted to physically touch!
