The Euro has been trading against sterling in a firm range between 1.2350 and 1.2450. Anyone looking to buy or sell who is not quite content with what is on offer would do well to prepare as things will likely change very soon. Getting the best exchange rate is about managing your risk and understanding what is driving the markets.

The best strategy for each client will be different according to their circumstances.

This morning we have CPI Inflation data out which could well spell trouble for the pound. With the chance of more QE in November high a low reading will bolster the case for more QE. This morning’s data is also significant because it will be used as the bench mark by the government for certain benefit hikes.

Spain have not as widely expected requested a formal bailout and this is giving the Euro confidence again further enhancing the rate for sellers. Tomorrow we have the Bank of England Minutes where we will see how members voted and again get a picture of how likely more QE is. With the first estimate of GDP due next Thursday too, there are some significant challenges for the rate to overcome to remain favourable for those buying Euros with sterling.
