It has to come, and the next step in the trading of energy between systems will be even simpler. Propellers are exactly that: they propel. So they’re heavy, powerful and it takes a lot of wind to move one the other way even if they’re aluminium, graphite or kevlar. Notice the design of the Windspire (nice inspirational pun), it’s light and its shape gathers wind rather than forcing air to make it move.
Imagine the lightest breath of air moving a massive device a hundredth the weight of a WW2 airplane propeller on steroids… come on! Is this the best modern tech can do?

Unfortunately it’s bunk. Too bad it wasn’t better designed, for now it’s a rip off. What’s worse, people who buy this junk get ‘rebates’ from the scums in government, which debt goes onto you, while the profits go to the schemes. But we still have solar and other ways to get off the grid which is important because they will try to destroy it with cyber or emp to force their smart grid on us for surveillance, that’s what all the phony cell towers are for. You are right about this “new” design, NO GOOD but it looks good!
However, the solar is not good either, a strong EMP will fry it.
The only way is Tesla’s radiant energy.

I wouldn’t take his advice if he said the sky was blue.
If they weren’t so greedy it could be an alternative for very small emergency use, but at 15k for just one tower that doesn’t put out hardly any juice, it’s not reasonable even for emergency. If they were to charge 2 or 3k for a tower (and design them stronger so they don’t fall apart) they could probably sell a lot for emergency use. But with their price it’s just a giant rip off.
There is a company in Tunisia that has developed a ‘windmill’ without blades. The structure is a round “sail’ that the wind pushes and pulls. The ‘sail’ is attached to a hydraulic pressure pump, that can release or store energy by hydraulic pressure.
No noise, no dead birds, no blades and very few moving parts. Current research shows this system to be at least twice as efficient as traditional designs.

The company I worked for in 1982 had a patent on a vertical shaft windmilk powered by glider wings. Our largest solar installations were on military bases to refuce their energy bills. The company was started by a guy who got fed up waiting in line for gas. Reagan destroyed all alternative energy startups before his second term.
The only reason they get government subsidies is because fossil fuels get subsidies. We were arguing against all energy subsidies even way back then.

Almost there – a beam reach will ‘propel’ a yacht faster than the wind moving the yacht – wind being defined as absolute relative to the surface of the water and the wind speed ‘across the deck’ with both Bernoulli’s Principle and the Venturi Effect (‘lift’ in aerodynamic terms) working together.
The weight of the propellers in ALL the wind farm paradigms are based on “heavier-than-airplane” propellers are far too heavy and need a lot of wind to make them turn.
Creativity is sometimes defined as bringing two or more concepts together that do not normally go together – think of a ‘propeller’ that need but a breath of air to turn it… and then put a coil and a magnet together with it…
