Many virtual conversations take place via Outlook. In many cases, you may be included in email conversations that are not relevant or of interest to you.

Conversations that take place via email usually results in lengthy threads. It’s difficult to keep track of and delete all the threads that can result from a single conversation. Not only does this contribute to email overload but it also leads to a cluttered Inbox.

If your Inbox is becoming a virtual water cooler, you can have Outlook move all messages within a thread and any future messages to your Deleted Items folder. To accomplish this, follow the steps described below:

  1. Within your Inbox, open an email that is part of the conversation you want to delete.
  2. From the Home tab, click the Ignore option within the Delete area.
  3. Click OK if prompted to confirm your actions.
  4. Click Ignore Conversations.

Any future emails that are part of the conversation are automatically moved to the Deleted Items folder.

You can also recover a conversation from the Deleted Items folder.

  1. Open your Deleted Items folder.
  2. Open an email containing the conversation you want to recover.
  3. From the Home tab, click Ignore within the Delete area.
  4. Click Stop Ignoring Conversation when prompted.

Any threads belonging to the conversation are recovered.
