Following hot on the heels of Facebook, Apple just added egg-freezing to its list of staff benefits, according a new report by NBC News.
At $10,000 or more per harvesting round, and $500 per year for storage, that’s quite a hefty investment. But with more than two male employees for every female one at both corporations, perhaps it’ll persuade more women to stay on.
Apple said in a statement: “We continue to expand our benefits for women, with a new extended maternity leave policy, along with cryopreservation and egg storage as part of our extensive support for infertility treatments.
“We want to empower women at Apple to do the best work of their lives as they care for loved ones and raise their families.”
Do you think they’re being generous, or do they just want to get longer careers from female staff who plan to be mothers?
