(Before It's News)

Way back in the early 1980’s when body piercing first started coming into its own, who would have thought that an entire generation (or two?) later they would be all the rage and that you just aren’t in style if you don’t have at least one pierce or one tat somewhere on your body? Well, tats and piercings are trending and it looks like they are here to stay. But are they for you? Here are a few tips to help you decide what you can do and what ‘feels’ right so that you don’t do something you may regret down the road one day.

Faux Piercing Rings

Sometimes referred to as ‘false piercings’ and other times ‘faux piercing’, the idea is always the same. You don’t need to have a hole punched in your body to see if you will like the look and feel of a real pierce. There isn’t a part of the anatomy that hasn’t been pierced, some parts shall remain nameless, but you get the idea. Whether you want a nose ring, a belly ring, a lip ring, a cheek ring or the traditional ear piercing but with pierces all the way around the contour of your outer ear, you can get false pierces that look real. In fact, even to the trained eye, they are often so realistic that you simply can’t tell they are fake.

Temporary Tats

Tattoos are perhaps the most fun when it comes to temporary tats. There are so many different kinds, some being metallic, some being deep and vibrant colors while others simply look like the real thing. Custom temporary tattoos come in a variety of sizes and quality so that you can actually wear them for up to a couple weeks without them washing or peeling off, as the case may be. You can buy them pre-made in shops but it’s even more fun to have one custom made for you because you wouldn’t be getting a generic tat in a shop.

Finalizing Your Choice of Tats and Pierces

The idea is to get a temporary tat to see if you will like having one, and also this will allow you to customize it a few times before getting the ‘real thing.’ When you’ve finally decided which of your temps you want to stick with, take the artwork for your custom temporary tattoo to the tattoo artist and they can give you a permanent tat drawn based on the image you used for your temporary one.

In the same way, you can take your faux piercing to the shop to show the piercing technician exactly how you are wearing this one and that you’d like to have a piercing right in that exact spot. Show the specialist what kind of pierce you intend to wear and the hole will accommodate the gauge wire/ring you want to wear. Then again, if you should decide neither tats nor pierces are right for you, simply stick with the faux or temps. You can have the best of both worlds and never need to suffer a needle. Now that’s a thought!
