MacBook Pro gets refreshed
WWDC 2012 might be a developer’s conference, but it is still a very good reason to celebrate the release of new hardware. Granted, you will not see a new iPhone 5 (or whatever else it is meant to be called) arrive, but then again, Apple is not made up of just the iPhone or the iPad, and have a slew of desktops and notebooks as well to make sure it gets easier to part with your hard earned money, no thanks to their stunning industrial design as a major pull factor, in addition to solid software to back up the easy-to-use hardware.
The MacBook Pro, long been described as the “quintessential professional notebook” by Apple, has just received a hardware upgrade over at wWDC 2012. Just what kind of superior hardware are we looking at? Well, the 13-inch MacBook Pro will come with the latest Intel Core i5 or Core i7 dual-core processors of up to 2.9 GHz with Turbo Boost speeds up to 3.6 GHz, while those who opt for the larger sized 15-inch MacBook Pro will be able to enjoy the benefits of the latest Intel Core i7 quad-core processors up to 2.7 GHz with Turbo Boost speeds up to 3.7 GHz and NVIDIA GeForce GT 650M discrete graphics.
For starters, both the 13-inch and 15-inch MacBook Pro will come with the possibility of you throwing in a 1TB hard drive, or to enjoy the speeds of SSDs of up to 512GB – which is half the hard drive size, in addition to being up to to twice as fast as the previous generation. Not only that, you also have a high-speed Thunderbolt port and a couple of USB 3.0 ports to help you hook things up in a jiffy, regardless of connectivity affiliation. The 13-inch and 15-inch MacBook Pro models are said to come with up to 7 hours of wireless battery life.
They will also ship with OS X Lion, and those who purchase the new MacBook Pro from today onwards will be eligible for a free copy of OS X Mountain Lion when it becomes available. Prices for the 13-inch MacBook Pro starts from $1,199 onwards, while the 2.9GHz dual-core Intel Core i7 processor, 8GB of memory and 750GB hard drive configuration will cost you $1,499. Those who want the 15-inch MacBook Pro will be able to pic one up from $1,799 all the way to $2,199, depending on the configuration.
