The Rassmussen Report (http://www.rasmussenreports.com/public_content/politics/mood_of_america/…) surveyed Americans and found that the two most important issues among likely voters are the economy and health care.
Two National Surveys of 1,000 Likely Voters
June 27-28 and July 1-2, 2012
ISSUE – % VERY IMPORTANT
Economy 74%
Health Care 67%
Gov’t Ethics and Corruption 64%
Taxes 55%
Energy Policy 44%
Education 55%
Social Security 60%
Immigration 47%
National Security/War on Terror 46%
Afghanistan 30%
More recently, the Rassmussen Report has published (http://www.rasmussenreports.com/public_content/politics/current_events/h…) survey results indicating that the majority of likely American voters favor repeal of the Affordable Care Act:
Most voters continue to support repeal of the health care law, and the number who fears they will have to change their health care coverage has jumped to its highest level since October of last year.
A new Rasmussen Reports national telephone survey finds that 55% of Likely U.S. Voters at least somewhat favor repeal of the health care law, including 41% who Strongly Favor repeal. Thirty-nine percent (39%) oppose repeal, with 30% who are Strongly Opposed. (To see survey question wording, click here.)
The survey of 1,000 Likely Voters was conducted on July 27-28, 2012 by Rasmussen Reports. The margin of sampling error is +/- 3 percentage points with a 95% level of confidence. Field work for all Rasmussen Reports surveys is conducted by Pulse Opinion Research, LLC. See methodology.
My comment:
After the US Supreme Court chose to re-define the individual mandate penalty (for failing to buy health insurance) as a tax, thus granting support for the Affordable Care Act, health care has risen to the #2 issue among likely voters in the US. This suggests that what the Supreme Court did does not sit well with the American public. And most likely voters want the Affordable Care Act repealed. Perhaps that is because the average person in the US has an innate sense of how foolish it is to force Americans to buy the most expensive, wasteful product on the market today: private health insurance.
