Top 5 Cloud Computing Predictions for 2013

1. Companies will rely on Cloud for more than 50% of their data storage needs.

Companies, businesses and organizations who have had a taste of the Cloud during 2012 will more than likely be impressed with their experience. An increase in the amount of data being entrusted to cloud computing service providers will double up. Because of this doubling up, these companies, businesses and organizations will have more confidence in storing their data on the cloud, a dependency of up to 50% or their data storage needs will not be a surprise.

2. Stronger Need for Cloud Services

The past 2 years have had to do with a lot of experimentation within cloud computing services. The market was not entirely sure yet of the capabilities as well as the dangers of the cloud. However, 2013 will be a whole new story! Cloud computing has proven itself useful in more than just a handful of ways. The need for companies to take the plunge into the Cloud will definitely be a whole lot stronger than this year or the last.

Cloud computing is at its peak of development and it is to no surprise that the cut throat competition is starting to emerge. Everybody wants to have a bite of the cake and be the first ones at that too! Expect the competition between cloud computing service providers to be more intense than ever.

4. Interest for Cloud will drastically increase

This year was an eye opener for cloud computing services for a lot of businesses, organizations and individual people as well. As the Cloud becomes more developed and its patrons and customers more reliant as well as more confident on its services, it is natural that a spark of interest will be born inside the minds of onlookers as well as the more cautious business entities. This interest will spread like wildfire amongst the corporate community and will not be stopped by anything!

5. Security will remain a concern

Security, risks and privacy issues have been the most blatant drawback for the cloud computing industry. Don’t expect this to just suddenly disappear in the blink of an eye. Yes, interest and confidence in the cloud will have a dramatic boost this coming year, but so too shall complaints regarding the safety of the information that its customers are leaving host to it.

Cloud computing is going to boom this coming 2013. Boosts in the intensity of competition, interest and its systems bound to happen. Still, it is always best to get to know a cloud service provider before jumping onto the innovation that the cloud offers! And those are my predictions for the cloud computing industry for this coming year of 2013!
