Surviving in the smartphone market is tough and there is no getting away from this fact. Even if you are the market leader (lights on Samsung), you have to work hard to make sure the sales don’t drop. If you like to browse around, we are sure you would have come across the rumors about the Galaxy S5. It is one of the hottest topics on the internet right now.
Sources say that there would be a lot of ‘new’ in the new Samsung Galaxy S5. Sources suggest that it would run an octa core processor, running on 64 bit architecture this time. Display would probably be a 5 or 5.2 inch 1440p display. We did some math (actually someone else did) and this resolution would give you a pixel density of over 550 pixels per inch. Some other rumors said that it would have a 20 megapixel camera but then some other sources told us that it would be a 16 megapixel camera.
There has been a word about the Samsung Galaxy S5 having an iris scanner as it was said that they are studying it as an option. Though this feature might not make it to the actual device that comes out. There is a very strong possibility that it would have a fingerprint scanner and we might see something radical. By radical we are referring to how the technology is implemented. Reports have suggested that they are studying the option to put fingerprint sensor below the display. We loved the way fingerprint sensor is integrated into the physical key on iPhone 5S and would really appreciate if Samsung comes up with something even better.
The new device would run the latest version of Android that is 4.4.2 Kit Kat. Another good news came in a few days back which told us that it would have a new version of the Touch Wiz UI. We like the Samsung interface but it has been more or less the same for a while now. A new version of their UI is surely something to look forward to.
The Samsung Galaxy S5 would not only bring some new tech but would also come with a fresh design. Samsung has been criticized earlier for the monotonous designs and the cheap build quality. The Galaxy S3 and S4 were powerful devices but their design was a letdown. Also the plastic felt cheap and flimsy. This time however, we can expect a good design and probably less plastic. They have recently received a new design patent for a smartphone with no buttons up front. The new device is expected to be announced on February 23 at an event in Barcelona. It would make it to the stores by the end of April.
